Botanical life is my inspiration: looking, seeing shapes and colors, light and shadow, and movement. Focusing on a portion of the organic shapes of a plant allows me to create an abstract image.I always continue to look as I paint, attempting to see deeply and intimately the plant or flower for what it is and how its essence manifests in the physical world. “Seeing is the most arduous thing that a human can undertake, for it calls for a disciplined, alert mind. But most people would much rather lapse into mental laziness than take the trouble to see each person, each thing in its present moment of freshness.” (Awareness, Anthony de Mello). Engaging in the act of seeing keeps me spiritually and emotionally connected to the process of art making and therapy.
Psalm 111:2 Great are the works of the LORD; they are pondered by all who delight in them.
